Concorde – Tail of the Aircraft (18-19)

Bag 18 – The rear trim tank is a fuel tank held in the tail of the aircraft. The center of gravity of the Concorde had to be different for take-off and supersonic cruising, so the flight engineer transferred fuel between tanks to adjust the aircraft’s center of gravity.

Bag 19 – As Concorde required a high angle of attack to optimize the delta wing’s lift on take-off and landing, the aircraft featured a small tail bumper wheel to ensure the rear of the plane didn’t hit the ground.

The underside of the tail is connected here with a reflected triangle, achieving the sleek tapered form that makes Concorde so iconic.

To attach to main fuselage I pulled the rod out and inserted into the gear control, followed by attaching the cone pieces to make up the tip of the tail, which is also used for raising and lowering the landing gear.

The final touchers were added with some smooth pieces to continue the sleek design and on the top (featured pic) you can see the little piece added to the top of the front of the aircraft.  Perhaps acts like a mini-fin for aerodynamics.
