On February 15th I was able to continue building my lighthouse. This started with Bag 11 which was the assembly the the cabins roof. I really liked the look of the roof with the chimney on one end and the added touch of smoke coming up like a cozy fire is on. The front has a lantern hanging next to the words Aurora Point (featured image). The last picture below shows the completed cabin from the front, with its roof installed.
I then continued with Bag 12, which was the assembly of the 3rd room, making up the top and final room of the lighthouse. From here I transitioned into making the light and outside assembly composing the top of the lighthouse.
On February 17th I completed the lighthouse, which consisted of Bag 13 making up the light mechanism and top of the lighthouse. In my opinion this was a very clever design in how it rotates and with the specially designed LEGO lens to get the full effect of the rotating light, it comes together into a beautiful package. My mom even asked if she can bring it home for display at there house!
My daughter was there for the completion of the project and was my helper on the final day too. She did the honors of turning the lighthouse on so we could see the new build in all its glory. I absolutely love it! You can see the fully completed LEGO set in pictures below as well as a video of the lighthouse in action.
This was my second big build. As much as I loved the Concorde build I did, this one was very satisfying… perhaps in part there was more contrast with colors and also just because of how lighthouses remind me of Newfoundland. It took me a while to finish the posts for this build; however, this concludes my build of the motorized lighthouse set!
